Concordia Eye Centre

Dr. Bayer is an Optometrist who graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2008. During her final year of training, she completed externships in primary care and ocular disease in Baltimore, MD, Yarmouth, NS, and Brampton, ON. At graduation, she was awarded the Margaret Hansen des Grosseliers Award. Prior to studying at University of Waterloo, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at The University of Winnipeg.
After graduation, Dr. Bayer returned to Nova Scotia, where she enjoyed almost two years in a group practice in Yarmouth before deciding to return home to Winnipeg to open her own practice. Dr. Bayer opened Concordia Eye Centre in August of 2010 and continues to strive to provide all patients with comprehensive, high-quality eye examination and vision services.
In May 2013, Dr. Bayer was honoured to be awarded the Women Business Owners of Manitoba's Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
In April 2017, Dr. Bayer was awarded the Manitoba Association of Optometrists’ “Optometrist of the Year Award” for her involvement with various optometry events and committees.
In September 2017, Dr. Bayer was awarded a “50th Anniversary Alumni of Honour Award” from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry.
In October 2013, Dr. Bayer became an Adjunct Clinical Associate for the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, as she supervises fourth year Optometry student interns at Concordia Eye Centre. Dr. Bayer is a member of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and has served on Council since 2013, serving on various committees and becoming the Registrar in 2021. She is also a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

Dr. Samborski is an Optometrist who graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in May 2012. During his Optometric studies, Dr. Samborski had the opportunity to complete externships in ocular disease, primary care, pediatrics, and low vision in Indianapolis, IN, Omaha, NE, and Pensacola, FL. Prior to studying at Indiana University, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Winnipeg.
While attending Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr.. Samborski enjoyed volunteering his time with Indiana Special Olympics, AAU Junior Olympics, and was a member of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). As a VOSH member, he volunteered on an eye care mission to provide Optometric services to patients who could not otherwise access or afford eye care services in Guanajuato, Mexico.
In October 2013, Dr. Samborski became an Adjunct Clincical Associate for the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, as he supervises fourth year Optometry student interns at Concordia Eye Centre.
Dr. Samborski has a special interest in Vision Therapy and has completed Dr. Sanet’s San Diego Seminar Series on Vision Therapy as well as other continuing education courses on the subject.
Dr. Samborski is a member of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and sits on the Children’s Vision Committee and the Diabetes Committee. He is also a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists. 

Dr. Massicotte is an Optometrist who graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science in 2019. Prior to studying at University of Waterloo, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in at Université de Saint-Boniface. As a 2nd year Optometry student, Dr. Massicotte went to Ecuador to provide eye care to those less fortunate through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH).
During her student years, Dr. Massicotte served as Vice-Pressident of Communications for the University of Waterloo Optometry Students Society (UWOSS) and was a member of the Canadian Association of Optometry Students (CAOS) executive as the Social Affairs Coordinator. Dr. Massicotte organized a “Dining in the Dark” event during which individuals experience what it is like to eat a meal when suffering from vision loss, as a fundraiser for the charitable organization Optometry Giving Sight.

As the Optical Manager at Concordia Eye Centre, Kristen brings 9 years of industry experience to her current role. With a focus on clinical management for 7 of those years, she has developed a deep understanding of the optical field. As a Licensed Optician, she is dedicated to providing personalized care to patients with their eyewear and contact lens needs. Kristen can usually be found either assisting clients in the eyewear dispensary, in the back meeting with frame reps to find the latest and greatest in eyewear for our customers or working behind the scenes to enhance the clinic's efficiency. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, indulging in reality TV or lounging on the backyard deck in the summer.

Filomena began her journey in the world of optics in 1998 as an Optician. While enjoying working with glasses and people's prescriptions, she found the medical side of the industry fascinating. In 2007 Filomena started exploring the world of ophthalmology and quickly found that she wanted to take schooling to support the work she was doing. Filomena completed the ophthalmic assistant course in 2008. Ready to bring all of her experiences together, Filomena joined Concordia Eye Centre in July 2015. In 2017 she graduated amongst the top of her class with the title of Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant. The versatility of the experiences Filomena has gained over nearly two decades are a massive asset to the team at Concordia Eye Centre.

When she is not at work, Filomena is very involved with her children's active sports lives. Domenic's main focus is football, while Andrew loves shooting hoops on the basketball court. She supports her husband Frank as the basketball convenor at North Kildonan Community Centre.

Pam came to Concordia Eye Centre in September 2021. She has worn many hats in her professional life and has many years of customer service and management skills. All of her chose career choices have been customer service-focused and Pam prides herself on always striving to give the best customer service experience possible.

Pam is busy in many areas of the clinic-contact lens training, pre-testing, visual fields and is often one of the friendly voices that you will hear reminding you of your upcoming appointment.

In her spare time, Pam and her husband Dale like to travel and spend time outside with their 2 dogs, Rudy and Johnny.

Beata joined Concordia Eye Centre as an optometric assistant in the spring of 2018, switching focuses from the chiropractic side of the medical field into the visual side. Beata completed her Medical Office Assistant Diploma though CDI College in 2013 and prior to that, obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Winnipeg.

Beata is busy in many areas of the office, you might meet her at the front desk when checking in, while you are having some preliminary testing done before you see the optometrist or while doing your visual fields. Beata is also the friendly voice that is often calling to remind you about an upcoming appointment

In her spare time, Beata enjoys spending time with her family and learning new things.

Dannah was proudly born and raised in the Philippines. When she was 15 years old, her family moved to Canada and made Winnipeg their home. With 6 years of background in Retail, Hotel and Restaurant Management, she’s fully equipped with the skills for unparalleled customer service. Her journey led her to Alberta for 2 years before returning to Winnipeg where she began working for an optical store. For the past 6 years, she has dedicated herself to learning and gaining expertise in the Optical Industry. She completed her Diploma for Optical Science, earning both her Eyeglasses and Contact Lens Certifications. Now, she’s beyond thrilled to bring her expertise to Concordia Eye Centre, where she’s dedicated to helping patients with their eyewear needs.
